1453 During the illness of Henry V!, and after a stirring speech by John Mowbray duke of Norfolk, Edmund Beaufort duke of Somerset was arrested on charges of treason and imprisoned in the Tower of London. He was released a little more than a year later after the recovery of Henry VI.
